The Creative and Performing Arts are an integral part of student life at Wollondilly Anglican College. There is a lot on offer at Wollondilly for students interest in the Arts.
There are three strands to Music at the College.
• Academic Music – where students study theory and practical components from Kindergarten to Year 8 and then, by election, to Year 12. On top of the Board of Studies Primary Curriculum, all Primary students learn a String instrument in Years 3 and 4 and a Band instrument in Years 5 and 6.
• Cocurricular Music – ensembles, bands and Musicals provide an opportunity to develop team skills and to reach out to the community.
• Extended Tuition – where qualified experts provide individualised instruction for students developing skills.
In any week at Wollondilly there are ensembles rehearsing after College hours and at lunchtime. Cocurricular Music plays a large role in the life of the College with many performances held throughout the year. There are a wide variety of ensembles to cater for the many interests of the students and the needs of the College.
Program of rehearsals:
|After College Hours||Lunchtime|
|Monday||Musical (Terms 1 and 2)||Drum Corp|
|Wednesday||Stage 3 Band||Guitar Ensemble|
|Thursday||Senior String Ensemble||Junior String Ensemble (Period 6)|

Students interested in singing, dancing and acting will be given the opportunity to audition for the College Musical. The performances are in Week 2 of Term 3. Students will need to commit to after College hours rehearsals of 2-3 hours per week as well as Holiday rehearsals during the July school break. There are usually five public performances of the show. A small fee is usually charged to cover the cost of costume hire and other incidental expenses. The Musical is one of the highlights of the College calendar year.
The Creative Design Program allows students from Year 7 to Year 11 to develop their skills and be involved in all aspects of creative design. For Terms 1 and 2, the group focuses on the College Musical to "create the scene" including stage construction to backdrop creation to the use of props. They research, design, and construct the visual aids required. Set designers learn how to enhance their artistic ability, through drawing, painting, sculpting, sewing, and set creation. It’s the ideal program for Secondary students who love the theatre, visual arts or graphic design.
Wollondilly Dance Company
The Dance Company is for students in Year 9 to 12 at Wollondilly Anglican College. The Team rehearses each Tuesday afternoon during Sport and after College hours.
Cocurricular dance groups are also conducted at lunch time for students of all ages at the College. Being involved in dance assists the development of students’ self-confidence, coordination, confidence, commitment, rhythm and performance skills.
