Local Service

Serving the Community

Unique opportunities to make a real difference in the community.

At Wollondilly Anglican College, students have the unique opportunity to make a real difference in their local community through service programs like the NSW Rural Fire Brigade Cadets, ANZAC Day ceremonies, and WAC Kids Care. These hands-on experiences teach students the value of compassion, leadership, and civic responsibility, while fostering a strong connection to their community.

Participation in local service programs equips students with invaluable life skills. In the NSW Rural Fire Brigade Cadets, students learn resilience, teamwork, and the importance of protecting their community during emergency situations. By joining ANZAC Day commemorations, students pay tribute to Australia’s military history and develop a deep sense of national pride and gratitude. Through initiatives like WAC Kids Care, where students prepare meals for families with terminally ill children, they experience the power of kindness and empathy, helping others in times of need. These programs help shape well-rounded individuals who are not only academically strong but also committed to making a positive impact.

Rural Fire Service Cadets

The NSW RFS Secondary Schools Cadet Program provides Year 9 and 10 students with an insight into fire safety and prevention whilst developing practical life skills and a general appreciation of community service and volunteerism.

Young people participate in the 10 week Secondary Schools Cadet Program through their school, as school students (not as members of the NSW RFS). The Secondary Schools Cadet Program can be linked to NSW Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) Years 7-10 Syllabus.

ANZAC Day

At Wollondilly Anglican College, students are encouraged to participate in local ANZAC Day commemorations as part of their commitment to community service and remembrance.

This involvement allows students to honor the courage and sacrifice of Australian servicemen and women while fostering a deeper understanding of Australia’s history and values.

Students can take part in ANZAC Day services by attending dawn services, marching in local parades, or contributing to memorial events held within the school and broader community. Through these opportunities, students develop a sense of gratitude and respect for those who served, while learning the importance of service, unity, and national pride. This local service engagement not only strengthens their leadership skills but also their connection to the legacy of the ANZAC spirit.

WAC Kids Care

From time to time, families undergo trauma such as severe or terminal illness. There are short-term structures in place at the College to assist families during these times.

The WAC Kids Care program offers practical support to several families at the College, in combination with local churches and local schools preparing food boxes and meals to assist these families.
